Dr. Amini’s Continuing Educational Pursuits
Currently, Dr. Amini is involved with gaining additional training in laser-assisted periodontal therapy and information on periodontal implantitis. The laser therapy course lets her administer laser treatments for periodontal disease, giving her the skills to complete a new procedure for her patients that is minimally invasive and promotes better dental health. Laser therapy provides tissue removal and treatment that is gentle on other tissues and more efficiently targets bacteria, compared to traditional tools.
With the course on periodontal implantitis, Dr. Amini is now better equipped to treat patients who are dealing with soft tissue infection around dental implants. Implants, after installation, can become infected if teeth are not properly taken care of. While the dental implants themselves have a 95 percent success rate, patients are still susceptible to infection around the treatment site after receiving an implant, though this number is small; around five percent of patients experience problems with periodontitis. Dr. Amini’s training provides her with the ability to better care for patients among this number who suffer from perio-implantitis.
